#TBT: College Football Days

Image
I've been feeling a little nostalgic lately. Senior year at college, me (left) and my left tackle, Matt. I think this was me at the biggest (325lbs), fastest (in the first 10 yards) and strongest (410 lbs max bench) I'll ever be. Now I'm working on being adequately strong, adequately fast and not that big.

Quick (Greek) Salad

This food science experiment seemed to work out ok for feeding two people: One medium Tomato, seeded and diced Three baby bell peppers, seeded and quartered length-wise 1/4 of a medium red onion, coarsely chopped 1/2 of an English Cucumber chopped 1/4 cup Kalamata olives One head romaine Lettuce, chopped 1/4 cup Feta (optional if cutting dairy) 2 Tbsp Extra Vigin Olive Oil 1 Tbsp Balsamic vinegar Combine first five ingredients with oil and vinegar. Add lettuce and toss until coated/mixed. Top with olives and feta. Enjoy!   I made this along with grilling kabobs, acorn squash, asparagus and some pineapple for dinner.

Workout Wednesday

I'm back on track...mostly. I'm in week three of the high intensity workout routine I found in an old Men's Health  fitness book. Today was a little frustrating as I feel one of my weightroom colleagues was being harassed by a trainer for "cursing" which translated more or less into "the old people are uncomfortable with your blackness, please be less black". That kind of stuff pisses me off. Anyhow, here is today's work: Lift Sets/weights Warm-up 5 minute run BB Bent Over Rows 205/7, 215/7, 225/4 (underhand) Bench Press 225/7, 245/7, 255/4 Pull-ups 7, 7, assisted) BB Overhead press 135/12, 135/12 One-arm BB curl 30/7, 40/4 Dips BW/10, BW/12 Cool down What's a cool down? BB = Barbell, DB = Dumbbell, BW = Body Weight

Just another Manic Monday...

Possible indicator of my day...post workout I went home, had a smoothie, fed cat, etc. took a few minutes to meditate. I do the mantra stuff, which I selected "focused" to focus on. Felt good, but then proceeded to put my shoes on the wrong feet... To compliment, here's some Bengals.

Music Monday: Anthrax/Public Enemy, "Bring the Noise"

My new favorite rediscovered song. Heavy and a good beginning to the rap/metal genre.
