TBT: Lifting back in the day

Image
"Dude, it's not cool to say you'll spot me and then try to tickle me."

#TBT - Summer of '09 Alumni Football game

Image
After the game. Alumni full-contact football fundraiser. High school guys from the 1990's (Navy blue jerseys) versus guys from the 2000's (white jerseys). Us old dudes lost and my arms were one big bruise, but it was a lot of fun and personally I think we looked better than the kids.

TBT: Up-ing the Iron in High School

I came across this old clipping from the Champlin-Dayton Press of me on the squat rack. My "friend" is my long-time friend Sean.

TBT: Senior Year College Football

Image
Me. Senior year of college football at little old D3 Hamline University in Fall 1999. I found this old pic going through some stuff and thought I'd scan it. The most uncanny thing about this pic is just how much my son looks like me. Granted he's 10 and doesn't have the facial hair or build yet, but I think this may be him at 21/22 years old.

#TBT : "Big Joe" At my biggest

Image
I found an old hard drive with a big archive of old pictures. Thought I'd throw this one up largely for my reference that I've come a long way compared to my biggest.  This is from New Years Eve 2004. I was in full-grad school/study mode and apparently I hadn't figured out what cardio was yet. Note, I picked the most gawd-awful one I could find. There are a few where I make big look good, but I didn't want to set a precedence.

#TBT: College Football Days

Image
I've been feeling a little nostalgic lately. Senior year at college, me (left) and my left tackle, Matt. I think this was me at the biggest (325lbs), fastest (in the first 10 yards) and strongest (410 lbs max bench) I'll ever be. Now I'm working on being adequately strong, adequately fast and not that big.

Go Jaguars! #TBT

Going through some old photos at my folks I came across this gem. 8th grade football squad. Can you find me? The transition from July to August starts bringing dreams of two-a-days and thoughts that I could still play.... #TBT
