I've come to the realization over the last couple of months that I had a substantial amount of workout fatigue. Not so much from working out, but from going to the discount gym and making working out an end-of-the-day priority. Frankly, I crave the amenities of a full-service gym. Namely, swimming, racquetball and free weights beyond dumbbells (the discount gym was very machine oriented, which I take to be the minimization of liability). I also recall enjoying working out on my way to work, it left me awake...or at least alert.
After some shopping around I found the local YMCA was having a special with no enrollment and the kids are free until the new year. Upon going entering the club, the ladies at front the counter even seemed to remember me with a "welcome back" and a "good to see you again".
I'm hoping I'm starting to hit another stride. It will also be nice to bring the kids into the club to do some swimming and introducing them to racquetball. Getting back in weight loss gear will take time, but nothing worthwhile typically happens overnight.
My first non-kid weekend with the membership (today) I decided to do a self-imposed mini-triathlon of 20 minutes swimming, 20 minutes on a stationary bike and 20 minutes running on a treadmill. Tomorrow may be a sore day...
